The Four Agreements – Don Miguel Ruiz

As Don Miguel Ruiz said, you need a very strong will to adopt the Four Agreements.

  1. Be impeccable with your words: don’t use your words against yourself or others. Honour your commitments even when it causes pain. When you say you will do something. Do it. Make only commitments you want to follow through. Don’t engage in “useless talk”

  1. Don’t Take Anything Personally

Don’t bother about other people’s opinion. It’s about them not you. Don’t take people’s words to heart. Quoting Don Miguel Ruiz, “Nothing other people do is because of you, it’s because of them “.

  1. Don’t Make Assumptions

“We make assumptions about what others are doing or thinking – we take it personally – then we blame them and react by sending emotional poison with our words”. Instead ask as many questions as you can, so you will be clear.

  1. Always Do Your Best

Strive to do your best in everything. As they say, have a spirit of excellence. Constantly improve yourself. Take small constant steps towards doing better at work, in your relationships and in every area of your life.
